A collection of seven striking riverside Townhouses has launched for sale at London City Island, EcoWorld Ballymore’s culturally-inspired new neighbourhood on Leamouth Peninsula.
The Townhouses are City Island’s largest and most individually-designed homes, offering buyers luxurious and contemporary living with uninterrupted views across the River Lea. Marked by a vibrant red brick façade and situated on the east of the development, the Townhouses each have three bedrooms, expansive living spaces, a secluded ground front terrace and private parking. The larger of the properties have six storeys, connected by a private lift, and features a beautiful private roof terrace for al fresco dining and entertainment.
The Townhouse were designed by Glenn Howells Architects and interiors have been designed by Amos & Amos, a London-based interior architecture and design studio. Working closely with EcoWorld Ballymore, Amos & Amos have created a concept that makes reference to the traditional townhouse whilst appealing to the modern buyer. The homes’ open plan rooms and hallways create connected living spaces with sleek crittall-style glazed partitions which flood the spaces with natural light.
The Townhouse kitchens and living areas respond to East London’s industrial past; the kitchens - the heart of each home – include a striking polished concrete island and black stained rough-cut oak dining table as focal points, complemented by bespoke cabinetry and brushed brass tapware and white-oiled oak flooring. The living rooms, in comparison, include low marble plinths and contemporary design features, leaving space for large scale art and sculptures. Amos & Amos incorporate a variety of bespoke fixtures and fittings throughout the Townhouses, including faraday-pattern metalwork and tan leather that reflect the area’s maritime heritage and identity of the Island, with industrial bathtubs and matt black brassware that are design features in their own right.
On Wednesday 22 May, City Island’s Townhouse collection will be released to the open market. There are three six-storey and four four-storey Townhouses available for purchase, all with three bedrooms, with prices starting from £1.45 million.
The Townhouses are located adjacent to English National Ballet’s new London headquarters which is set to open later this year, placing buyers at the heart of an island of art and creativity. Each Townhouse is just a stone’s throw from the Island’s iconic red footbridge which spans the River Lea and provides high-speed connectivity to central London and beyond via Canning Town Station. Having been established as London’s newest lifestyle hub for art and culture, new residents are set to benefit from a variety of amenities at City Island, including independent cafes, shops, restaurants and on-site galleries, it is very much more than just a place to live.
Jaki Amos, Co-Founder at Amos & Amos, said: “The Townhouses at City Island marked a real opportunity to create unique design-led living spaces which build upon the Island’s boldness and creativity, whilst simultaneously referencing the site’s rich industrial past. We have worked closely with EcoWorld Ballymore across a number of design projects at City Island and it has been both exciting and rewarding to see the development evolve, with the Townhouses being the latest design landmark to be introduced to the Island.”
Glenn Howells, Architect at Glenn Howells Architects, added: “We envisaged seven luxury homes which could adapt to the changing needs of families and individuals living at London City Island. Our shared ambition with EcoWorld Ballymore was to create a unique way of living within one of London’s most modern and innovative neighbourhoods. The vertical, stacked spaces mean the homes can be enjoyed and interpreted in many different ways, which will also allow each Townhouse to easily evolve to changing demands of residents for decades to come.”
Anita Hughes, Managing Director at EcoWorld UK, commented: “We are delighted to launch the Townhouses at City Island to the open market. The launch is a real milestone for Phase Two which continues to evolve at pace and will soon include the opening of English National Ballet’s and the London Film School’s new headquarters.”
John Mulryan, Group Managing Director at Ballymore, added: “Our vision for City Island is to create an architecturally-striking development with culture and creativity at its heart; the Townhouses are an example of the diverse and unique living spaces on offer on the island and set the bar for homes of their type. We are confident that they will generate interest from potential buyers across the spectrum.”
