Royal Wharf summer fete returns for a second year

Family fun day returns with international street food, yoga, facepainting and sports day races

[London: 24 July 2019]: On Saturday 17th August, the Royal Wharf Summer Fete will return to Royal Wharf Park, between 11am and 7pm in aid of Richard House Children’s Hospice. Located in London’s Royal Docks, close to Pontoon Dock station on the DLR, the Royal Wharf Summer Fete will once again provide all-day food, drink and entertainment - giving guests the opportunity to relax and enjoy the summer weather in this growing riverside destination.

The Royal Wharf Summer Fete will showcase a mouth-watering selection of food from around the world including timeless British classics and pan-Asian treats. Kerbisher and Malt, Esquire Magazine’s Best British fish and chips, will bring the taste of the seaside to Royal Wharf, while guests will also be treated to Born ‘n Raised artisan Pizza, handcrafted and fired from a custom-built Land Rover Defender. For a taste of the east, Rainbo’s Japanese Street Food will serve up the best gyoza this side of Tokyo. Plus, a pop-up Fuller’s pub bar and irresistible selection of ice cream and coffee will also be available.

For those seeking a healthy start to the day, there will be free yoga sessions at 10am in the park, providing the ideal opportunity to embrace Royal Wharf’s green space while taking in sweeping views of the River Thames. For more information, and to book your yoga slot, please email events@ballymoregroup.com.

A musical soundtrack to the summer festival will be provided by steel pan fusion, a contemporary British band, with music that seamlessly weaves together the vocabularies of jazz-fusion, modern dance music and the myriad sounds of the Caribbean. Further, Royal Wharf will turn up the volume with Das Brass, an eight-piece brass band with a penchant for rock, pop and funk favourites, the jazz heavyweights will be on hand throughout the day, with renditions of The White Stripe’s Seven Nation Army and unique takes on TV theme tunes to funk up the Summer Fete.

The Royal Wharf Summer Fete is the perfect family day out with something for everybody on offer, from a soft play area by Gymboree, to face painters, balloon modellers, Gandini jugglers and bubble performers; there throughout the day to keep everyone entertained.

After last year’s success, hosts Ballymore and Oxley are inviting everyone back for a second summer fete in aid of charity Richard House Children’s Hospice, a charity which supports children and their families in East London and helps them to lead as happy a life as possible when dealing with a life-limiting health condition. The charity has organised a traditional sports day for the Fete, with a number of events from hula hooping to egg-and-spoon races taking place for family and friends to enjoy. All proceeds from the Sports Day will go towards this worthy cause.
