Head of IT Systems

Hours of work: Monday to Friday - 40 hours per week. 

Location: East London, Canary Wharf 

Contract: Permanent

Duties & Responsibilities

· Strategic Leadership: Develop and execute the IT systems strategy, ensuring alignment with the company’s business goals and growth plans.

· Systems Management: Oversee the design, implementation, and maintenance of business-critical software applications, ensuring optimal performance, security, and scalability.

· Process Optimization: Identify opportunities to streamline business processes through automation, system integration, and advanced analytics.

· Security & Compliance: Ensure IT systems adhere to industry regulations, cybersecurity best practices, and data protection policies.

· Vendor & Stakeholder Management: Collaborate with software vendors, service providers, and internal stakeholders to drive system enhancements and new technology implementations.

· Innovation & Digital Transformation: Stay ahead of technology trends and lead digital transformation initiatives to improve operational efficiency and competitive advantage.

· Risk Management: Identify, assess, and mitigate IT-related risks to ensure business continuity and protect company assets.

· Team Leadership: Build and lead a high-performing IT team, providing mentorship, training, and professional development opportunities.

· Incident Management: Establish and oversee IT support processes, ensuring rapid response and resolution of technical issues to minimize business disruption.

· Serve as primary consultant or project leader for the organisation on highly significant matters related to programs, capabilities, and long-range goals and objectives.

· Provide consulting expertise, direction, and assistance to a wide array of stakeholders

Skills, Experience & Qualifications

· Strong understanding of organisational software strategy and its alignment with business goals.

· Ability to safeguard software systems and data integrity through robust security and compliance practices.

· Expertise in implementing Software Quality Assurance across the organisation.

· Establish efficient change management processes to ensure business readiness for new software implementations and address user experience requirements.

· Develop and propose a structured model for Software Governance and Project Management Governance.

· Lead and oversee outsourced software providers, ensuring effective project management and service delivery.

· Extensive experience in software risk management, including cybersecurity, business continuity, data storage, and retrieval.

· Own and drive the software programme and project portfolio, managing scope, cost, timelines, and quality.

· Oversee internal software audits, addressing findings and following up on outstanding issues.

· Collaborate with Project Sponsors to prioritise software development and implementation programmes, ensuring resources are allocated within project budgets.

· Play a key role in aligning software initiatives with strategic business goals, supporting Senior Business Sponsors in finalising business cases and realising post-project benefits.

· Contribute to the development and execution of the company’s software-driven business strategy and digital transformation plans.

· Participate in quarterly Risk and Control Self-Assessments, including software-specific controls.

· Experience complying with ICO, GDPR, and data protection regulations in relation to software systems.

· Maintain, test, and enhance Software Disaster Recovery to ensure a resilient application landscape.

· Schedule regular software security assessments and vulnerability scans, coordinating remedial actions.

Experience Required

· Experience of migrating from legacy systems would be a distinct advantage.

· Experience working within a property development and construction environment would be beneficial.

· Experience in working with outsourced IT infrastructure service providers.

· Experience in driving IT project management processes.

· 7+ years of proven portfolio/programme/large project management experience and/or business transformation programmes.

· An understanding of the following systems/technologies: Microsoft 365: Azure, Office, Propman, ERP & CRM, Middleware platforms to provide system wide integration (API’s), Data Warehouse and Business Intelligence tooling (Reports).

Educational Requirements

· Third Level Qualification in Business/Computer Science / IT

· Project Management Certification e.g. PMP, CAPM, PRINCE 2

· MS Project and MS Office toolset (Word, Excel, PowerPoint
